1st visit to this gem. Arrived and place was packed which told me people love this spot. Service was outstanding throughout the meal. Had 3 great dishes that we very uniquely Japanese and loved them all. Real cool Saki offerings that were really nice along with some cold Japanese beer. Left impressed and will be back as this is a real cool place to dine! Thank you Hana Don for a great foodie experience!

I ordered the Bara don and it was fresh! It was my birthday so the staff gave me a cheesecake for free. Very friendly staff and would come again!

The place is pretty close to Dundas station, Eaton Centre, etc. and is a nice alternative to the food court at the mall if you’re in the area.
There’s a good amount of seating, and you have a good view of Dundas St. while inside.
I had the burger steak don. Their bowls look small but they’re actually a good amount of food and was pretty full by the end. This dish came with a garnish of a hard-boiled egg, which was cold. I thought it would’ve been better if this was more medium- or soft-boiled and warm. The burger itself was okay. I would have liked it more medium rare if they make these burgers in-house. The sauce had a nice flavour. Otherwise, it was fine and I was hungry.
With the sake that I split with my friend and the burger steak, it was around $65. I’m not sure if I feel like there was a good amount of value for what I paid.

We went to the location at Dundas. Food was alright, missing a bit of a wow factor for the price. We ordered Chicken Karaage, Aburi Don, Angus Burger Steak Don, Sous Vide Beef Don and Premium Bara Don. Was definitely expecting a bit more in the taste of the food, but it just underwhelming.

The dons are really good but the topping to rice ratio could be better. I basically left half the rice uneaten because there wasn't enough fish to go with it.
The purple yam croquette and karaage were not that good, neither was very crispy, the fillings and flavor were ok.

A solid place for getting your sushi don craving satisfied. The portions look small but are pretty decently filling enough. The aburi don is what i got and definitely comparable to other premium casual sushi spots in city.

Three of us had lunch here today. One of us had a Gyu (Beef) Don (Rice Bowl) combo that came with miso soup, California roll and onsen egg. One ordered just a Gyu Don, and the other one had an Unatama (Eel) Don. All don came with a miso soup surprisingly.
Rice per se was great. The amount of gyu was generous, gyu was flavourful. However, my friend did not think her gyu don was flavourful.
California was not bad, there was a generous amount of avocado and some addition of their own. One thing though, I did not like sushi fell off when I picked it up with chopsticks 🥢
According to my mother, she enjoyed the eel don. It was fatty to the right extent such that it was juicy and not dry. She often found eel was too dry. Interestingly, there was a grilled egg underneath the eel.
Miso soup was standard.
I normally do not care about service that much, but our server was very good today.
The place was not big, but very bright, and also clean. Not fancy but homey.
Reasonable price!

Weekday lunch! They no longer have the specials. Smaller portions, fantastic presentation! Fresh and tasty. Come here for a somewhat elevated food experience™️

Overall, this is the worst Japanese food I have ever had. If you are reading this, do not eat here!! Had a kurage don and spicy tuna sushi roll. The bowl had the chicken, and egg, and plain rice. Nothing else, no onions with the dashi based sauce like normal Japanese places. No flavor and dry white rice is not a good combination. The tuna roll was slimy and gross, then it had something hard in it and I had to spit the one bite I took back out into a napkin, I could not eat it. It was also loosely made so fell apart when I tried to pick it up. Definitely 0/10 would never eat here again. It was expensive too. $20-$30 per bowl and what most places would call half of a spicy tuna roll was $14.
