Grand Electric

Came here a day after they announced they would be closing the restaurant after all these years. There was a long wait to get into the patio as everyone else wanted to come say their goodbyes as well. We already had dinner elsewhere but wanted to finish off the night here. We ordered the Baja fish tacos, mission wings, and key lime pie. Have been coming here sporadically over the years, and also visited their bbq restaurant down the street, and the outpost in Muskoka. A true institution, part of a select few places that led Toronto's culinary awakening to make it the foodie heaven that it is today. Hope to see your future projects, and also grateful for the footprints that you left on the local restaurant landscape.

Grand Electric is a great spot for Mexican food. The vibe inside is good- often they play old-school hip-hop! The tacos are good, and the tuna ceviche is excellent. The drinks are also great and it's a fun place to go with friends!

We were pressed for time, and looking for anywhere to eat. We were lucky enough to find this place! Cool little patio area out back, and great food! Perfectly spicy tacos! Love the Chicken! Had the Beef cheek and Cauliflower tacos as well! So good!

By far my most favourite taco joint in the city. I’ve been coming here since 2014 and it has served consistently good food since then. This visit I had the baja fish, mushroom and spicy chicken tacos. The spicy chicken is my favourite taco. It’s super flavourful and the yogurt sauce is a nice, cool addition that cuts through the spice and pickled onions. The baja fish taco is fantastic. It’s not over or under cooked/battered. Just the right amount of crispy batter with a wonderful slaw. The mushroom taco really lets the mushrooms shine. It isn’t overly seasoned and some people might not love that. But if you’re a mushroom lover, you will love this taco. It’s creamy and the garlic onions really complement the mushroom. The restaurants vibe is retro and intimate. Will be back soon!

I remember when Grand Electric used to involve a two hour wait. I was OBSESSED and it was the centre of several nights. Drinks down the road while we waited, then rolling in wasted at 930 to stuff my face. I was in my twenties then… and then I got old. It’s been a while since I’ve gone to Grand Electric, mostly because I had really, deeply grown out of waiting for tables. That’s why I was SO happy to see that they started taking reservations. I am happy to report that Grand Electric is still super fun and delicious. The tacos we had were uniformly great- but the chicken was SO spicy. I mean to be fair it’s called Spicy Chicken, so my bad. I couldn’t finish it. Also the octopus dish- which used to be the must-have dish- has evolved and isn’t quite as great. But everything else- drinks, tacos, ceviche- was super good. As someone who is no longer in my twenties, I wouldn’t mind the music being a little quieter… but whatever. I’ll definitely be going back.

Amazing place! I tried a lot of dishes from this place, and everything was delicious. A lot of what I tried had lime in it and I really love lime. Employees were very friendly and work fast. When I went it was very crowded and busy, so I recommend making a reservation ahead of time. Would definitely come back here when I'm craving Mexican food. PS. Don't forget to order dessert, the Key Lime Pie is 👌👌👌

Amazing food! My husband and our two close friends (who are from Mexico by the way) we’re just so impressed with the portions and quality of food with a very reasonable price. The spicy chicken quesadillas and the kale Caesar salad will be my go to along with the chips and guacamole.

Really yummy, reasonably priced tacos. The vibe was cozy and retro, which I loved. The service was also great.

PHENOMENAL!!! Rarely do you walk into a restaurant and everything you order is high on quality and bursting with different flavors. Ordered the wings and 3 tacos to start - crispy pork, shrimp (50% off today) and mushroom. While the size of the wings were medium, I would rate these as one of the top 3 wings I've tasted in the last year or two. Each of the tacos (made with corn), were unique and didn't taste like the other. I had to order another shrimp taco along with the spicy chicken taco. Again - 4 different tacos and none were remotely close to the others. Ordered a whiskey sour as well, which was very good. I'll be visiting this restaurant again - top notch service and amazing food. Highly recommend to anyone craving unique and flavorful taco's.
