Gyoko Sushi & Bar

Nice little place with good food and good service but a little pricey compared to other Japanese restos in the area. For example, they have a bento box on the lunch menu for $24 - a similar bento at Katsu is $18 and they are in the heart of Greek town (which is higher rent) and you can get it at dinner time. Gyoka has three dinner bentos available but I preferred the one on the lunch menu and they wouldn’t let me order it because it’s only available until 15:00…I don’t get it as $24 is not lunchtime pricing. We had tempura, gyoza, spring rolls, and California rolls and they were all tasty and all arrived hot. The udon noodles with chicken was also good but even though they use dark meat which is less expensive, there is not much meat in the dish. I don’t eat raw so I cannot comment on the sushi. They serve cans of coke (not Pepsi and not fountain) which is a plus for me. They have a few tables with umbrellas outside. Lots of street parking and two lots across the street (behind the Tim’s and Coffee Time). Very short walk from Woodbine station.

The service was amazing here! The employees were very nice and attentive. The food was brought to my table quickly and was delicious! I recommend the vegetable udon! The sushi rolls were solid as well! Great customer service and the inside of the restaurant is clean, organized and peaceful!

I ordered the Spicy Chicken today, and it was about 90% cabbage and 10% chicken. Still very tasty but I remember ordering it in the past and it was more like 50/50 chicken and cabbage. If it's going to be mainly cabbage, the name of the dish should be "Spicy Cabbage with Chicken"! The other things we ordered were very good.

Good quality food!

First time at GYOKO sushi! On eclipse day. Service was great, while I was waiting for my Takeout. Lunch Beef teriyaki bento was super yummy and flavorful. The Danforth spicy sushi roll was freshly made and Delicious! Thank you so much for the great service and the food was very exquisite. I shall return next time.

So good!! We’ve been looking for a new local sushi place that is easy to order in after our other fav moved and the quality went down. After trying MULTIPLE places nearby we finally found the one. Always fresh tasting salmon, perfect rice texture, great miso soup, and good flavour. A staple easy simple sushi spot.
