The dinner is actually a slightly modernised Kaisei dinner. I was a little skeptical at first to try this 1 star Japanese restaurant, worrying that the food has been westernised and cater for local, especially when chef went out of his way to explain what a dashi is to its guest. That’s a red flag in my mind. Luckily, my blind faith was handsomely rewarded. The most simple ingredients combination with simple seasoning like soy sauce and salt or just cook in dashi. Nothing could be hidden and let the quality of the produces shine. 1. The presentation is not over of top or gimmicky, rather, pleasing like an art form and yet still wow you; 2. Even the dakon (radish) next to the sashimi was carefully treated and tasted exceptional; 3. Go for sake pairing and have fun with the chef.

If it was possible to give 7 stars, I would. I enjoy some of the top restaurants in Toronto regularly, but have never had an experience like this. Chef was incredible, food was impeccable, and sake pairings can’t be beat. Highly recommend. I’ll be back seasonally, as the menu changes. Thank you, Yukashi!

We had an entertaining and delicious meal that was exquisitely prepared for us by chef. Each course built on the last one and took us on a flavour journey right to the end with the crown melon cut was the extremely long knife that resembled a katana more than a kitchen tool. The most memorable dishes were the two types of wagyu beef and the chutoro. Each were carefully seasoned, and in some cases, seasoned with only very lightly. Looking forward to going back and sampling chef’s creations again.

My wife and I celebrated our tenth year anniversary over a nine course omakase. This has been one of the best food experiences I've had - ever. The food was sublime and the chef and staff were very warm and personable. Loved it!!!

Beautiful omakase experience. Servers and chef are very pleasant and welcoming. Humble atmosphere with great care and passion (sous chefs too!) to piece together the delicate and well thought out dishes. Did the sake pairing with omakase which went very well with each dish.

I've been to several omakase places around Toronto and this is the only place that gets it right. The omakase experience is not just about the food, but also the atmosphere and engagement of the chef with the customers. I came on a quiet night with only another couple in the restaurant so it was a very intimate experience. The employee that served us was exceedingly polite and explained all the dishes well. The chef himself was quiet and a little unapproachable at first while he was working, but once the first few dishes were served and he formally introduced himself, he began fully engaging with everyone. And boy, was he so funny and friendly! The flow of conversation reminded me of Japan, unlike in Toronto where the chefs typically don't talk to customers despite standing right in front of them. The flow of the dishes came out at a good pace, probably because there were so few of us. Presentation was on point with refinement, delicacy and high attention to detail. Despite the bite size nature of these dishes, every single one packed a punch and it was a harmony of flavours. Out of all the dishes, the standouts were the blowtorch wagyu/uni/foie gras dish, hassun (dish with elements that represent the season) and sashimi platter. The chef's skill and technique can't be overstated and watching him prep the food was an experience in itself. Overall, this place is absolutely worthy of its Michelin star. I've been to other places that may have a single element done better than Yukashi, but nowhere else does everything equally well - presentation, taste, service and chef engagement. ごちそうさまでした!

Dining at this one-star Michelin restaurant has truly been one of my standout culinary experiences. It exceeded our expectations, creating a lasting impression. The restaurant's ambiance felt like an extension of our own kitchen, providing an intimate setting. What made the experience exceptional was having Chef Daisuke personally prepare our 9-course meal right before our eyes. His continuous presence throughout our time in the restaurant added a unique touch to the dining affair. Chef Daisuke, with a charm akin to my husband's, not only showcased his culinary skills but also engaged with us, detailing each dish. This personal touch made the dining experience more memorable and enjoyable. Turning to the dishes, every element was thoughtfully curated and flawlessly executed. The flavors harmonized beautifully, reflecting a mastery of culinary artistry. It was evident that meticulous attention to detail went into every aspect, resulting in a symphony of tastes that delighted the senses. Ayaka and the rest of the staff added an extra layer of warmth to our experience. Their welcoming and hospitable nature enhanced the overall atmosphere of the restaurant, making our time there not just a culinary delight but also a genuinely enjoyable and memorable occasion. In essence, this dining experience, guided by Chef Daisuke's expertise, transcended a simple meal. It became a journey through flavors, turning it into a culinary spectacle that will be cherished in my memory. This is truly a hidden-gem restaurant in Toronto!

Yukashi was probably the best Michelin star restaurant that I have been to so far! Not only was everything delicious but it was such a fun, engaging and overall, entertaining experience. Chef Daisuke and his team exhibited unparalleled hospitality, ensuring our visit was nothing short of exceptional. We went during the Autumn season and each dish featured the freshest Fall ingredients. With each bite, you can tell how much thought and detail Chef Daisuke put into the whole menu. Not only was everything delicious but these dishes are hands down the most beautiful dishes that I have ever been eaten. What an unforgettable experience!

The photos don’t do enough justice for how amazing all of the dishes are. Chef Daisuke is very welcoming and very passionate about every dish of his. He’s also very humorous. Each dish’s presentation is like a piece of art. His Washoku - “the harmony of food” is out of this world. Not only are they beautiful, but they are also super delicious and fresh.

We went as a group of 4 to celebrate our friends' wedding anniversary. It was a truly memorable and tasty experience. The food and the service were fantastic. We particularly enjoyed the torched wagyu and foie gras, the sashimi platter, and the famous melon at the end. The chef was also very engaging, with a good sense of humour. Thank you for the great evening and for the special anniversary dessert plate for our friends!
