Good food and service, but way expensive.

Delicious tapas and a comprehensive wine list

Cava is a tapas restaurant located in mid-town Toronto. It is a small and unique restaurant, with a romantic decor. I have to give a bonus point to the waiter, he gave us some recommendations since this is the first time. We ordered 4 pieces of "supergilda", which is sardines with olives and top of a small piece of toast. A very well tasted appertizer starter. Then we had the eggplant with quesi fresco, and maitake mushroom with sherry and mint. Both are very special to me, because the combination of flavour are so "new" to me! The main courses are sablefish with black rice, as well as the seafood panella. The panella is not on the menu, but you can ask the waiter to take the order. The panella is good, but not great, bc the shrimp is not very fresh. The sablefish is nothing too stand out, it did not give me a "wow" factor. Overall, I would say it is a nice place for a date, or for a drink with some small dishes.

I have been here a few times. The food is average and the portions are very small. The prices are expensive for what you are served. This is a spot for a quick nibble and and glass of wine. It's definitely not one of Toronto's top restaurants.

Incredible food with impeccable and personable service. Cava is a true 5 star fine dining experience, worth every penny. They were extremely accommodating to my dietary restrictions and all of the dishes the chef prepared for me were amazing. Each dish had the perfect combinations of flavors and textures, everything complimented each other beautifully. The recommended wines, cava, and liquors were delicious and were great accompaniments to the dishes. I can't recommend Cava highly enough, you must experience it at least once!

Oh. My. Lord. One of THE best dining experiences I have ever had in the 15 years of living in Toronto. The staff were absolutely amazing, extremely friendly and helpful. They knew the food and wine selection and pairings with the dishes. As a Maritime native, I was blown away by the freshness of the seafood, flown in from Azure freshly caught last night! A treat fit for the Gods, I dare say Poseidon would approve. That Sablefish and rice dish is still on my mind. The atmosphere made the dining experience that much more satisfying. I think my partner and I will be talking about that dinner for weeks. We were a large group, probably 20, and they had no problem getting us seated. So rest assured they take larger reservations, or perfect for a dinner date. Will definitely be returning and recommending it to friends and family!

Lovely place to spend an evening and enjoy some decadent tapas with friends or on a date. Serrano ham, carved in front of your eyes at the bar, by a very busy chef, was melt-in-your-mouth savory bliss. We wanted to try the joselito ham (aged even longer, and hogs raised in an oak forest, and much darker colour) but at twice the price we were still very very impressed with the serrano. Paella, although it took about 45 min, was absolutely worth the wait (you have to ask for it though!, it is not on the menu). Lovely texture, lots of seafood, tons of flavour. Croqueta were delicious. Good wine and beer selection. We will be back for a special occasion.

Visited on Valentine's Day 2018. Took my fiance (now wife) as she has been all over to every restaurant,...and has never heard of this. (Tidbit of info: I used to work here). I feel like it's glory days have come to an end. Dishes haven't changed much in the last 10years. Although still good, it lost its "umph!". Dishes were underseasoned. Maybe it was always like this, but I remember coming here in 2010 and having one of the best meals of my life. Then again, at that time Chris McDonald and Doug Penfold were both very active in the BOH. Would still come back, but only if I saw a bunch of new menu items.

The food was excellent and the staff was courteous and prompt at clearing empty dishes. We were 6 and we chose to have the chef pick our menu. We gave the waiter our preferences as the woman side of the table was skewed towards being pescatarian and the man most definitely meat eaters. Between all of us, I believe we may have sampled the entire menu. I don't think there was one item where we felt the flavour was lacking. Great experience! A definite redo.
