Blackjack BBQ

I was employed here for a very short time. The place was SEVERELY infested with cockroaches... It was extremely hard to work in as I constantly had to sweep up or kill them with 0 empathy despite my huge fear of creepy crawlers. The manager was rude, Dan the manager was constantly hanging around woman at the bar and there were women that had visited who shared that they would never come around when Dan is working. The owners came in frequently and constantly left a mess for the servers to clean when they came in. The cooks Joe and Sadeek are amazing though, very kind people and they are what kept me there for longer than I should've stayed. I was desperate to cover many shifts because I did not enjoy my time at work at all. Dan was also stealing from tips (received this information from a reliable source in the restaurant). It was just an overall poor experience. My family had come a few times and really hated their experience. I also had an autistic friend who shared that they were saddened by some words shared from Dan one night regarding autism. As a server I was barely trained. The whole place brought me down so much and was so unenjoyable. I am glad I don't work there anymore. I wish I had listened to the former employees who warned me about how bad the place was and how rude the owners (specifically the female one) were.

Wish we could stay longer. Had the pulled pork sandwiches which was so tender and so flavourful. Absolutely must try the waffle fries and they make an excellent Old Fashioned.

I beg of you, get the 5 spiced fried chicken with the Korean sauce! It genuinely brings tears to my eyes everytime I eat it. My boyfriend and I order it like once a week, it's truly the best, most addictive chicken I've ever had. The sauce is what dreams are made of + the peppers add the perfect amount of heat. Their waffle fries are always crispy and their sweet potato fries are perfect.

Dropped in due to it having a outdoor patio which was heated. Decently warm but there are big gaps which let’s wind blow in. Restaurant was clean and appeared to be a nice establishment. Staff were friends and food and drinks were priced like any other bbq spots. Their Moscow mule and ceasers were decent, didn’t taste like your regular drinks. Probably the excess amount of iced used. We ordered the bbq corn with blue cheese which was pretty good. Blue cheese covered the taste of pretty much the corn and the sauce on the corn. We also got the ranger fries which was their waffle fries with queso, onion, and salt. Not very exciting cause it didn’t taste like potatoes, tasted like salt. We also got a share platter which came with pulled pork, ribs, fried chicken, fries, coleslaw, pickles, and salt. The portions were decent but very small for it to be worth 37 dollars on the menu. Like the other reviews, everything was over seasoned with salt. The fried chicken batter was salty, the fries were over seasoned with salt, the pulled pork has rock salt or finishing salt all over it. It honestly felt like someone did the salt bar thing in the kitchen. Staff did some check in on us about the food. I advised that the food was salty and their solution was to give us water. At least lie to me and tell me you’re going to let the kitchen know haha. I wouldn’t return to dine here, felt like I had to chug water when I got home.

We saw the menu and we're excited to try. Our order arrived with an item missing, the fried chicken came with two pieces of chicken (they charge 18$ for this item) and the quality was mediocre at best, everything was salty to the point where my wife and I were physically unable to finish the food. The beef lettuce wrap was unappealing and the meat was not cooked well. Disappointing to say the least but, moreover, how do you justify charging customers 18$ for two pieces of chicken?!?

Full disclosure.. have not had their barbecue. I went to use the washroom before I sat down, and saw a Johnny Cash record on the wall which I took as a great sign. The music was great and switched between Amy Winehouse and Cash. Their cocktails were really good. Nice quiet atmosphere on a Tuesday night... kind of speak easy vibes. Definitely worth a stop on your Gerrard st E tour.

Didn’t try any main dishes but appetizers were filling and delicious, the patio area is nice and clean and our server was so kind. He made sure to check up on us without even asking or waiting. Good place to come and enjoy with friends, thank you! 😊

We went to Blackjack for the first time and we had a good experience overall but they have a few things where they can improve. The charred greens, ribs and sweet potato fries are fantastic. The Korean chicken was great but much too salty and the same could be said about the waffle fries. The beer selection is good, patio is cute, and the music they played would cater to a large audience. We will go back again with the assumption that the over-salted items were one-offs.

Was only there for drinks before dinner, but 5 star service all the way! Staff are extremely friendly, attentive, listening and asking for feedback and almost overly accommodating! Dan the on shift manager was a great guy as well as our friendly server. Didn't have myself, but their waffle fries and sweet potato fries looked DELICIOUS.

Finally!!!!! Their patio is open!!!!! We really enjoyed being here yesterday. We had smoked chicken wings, ranger waffle fries and the lonestar burger, the food was good!! And staff are very kind and friendly. We will definitely come back here :)
