Banh Mi Boys

As a real viet person, I wouldn’t call this authentic Banh mi (controversial opinion). It’s a little too polished and almost like gentrified toy food with a kiss of Korean influence. Maybe that’s a compliment depending on your taste. To be fair, there’s nothing wrong with the Banh mi. It will taste delicious to the untrained tongue. But the aftertaste for a viet person is a longing for something more with soul. My feedback is to add a lot more char to the meat and make it less Korean influenced in flavour. The bread should also be skinnier for a real street food look. Finally, they mayo tastes like Hellman’s. It should be a fattier , yolk based style mayo. Maybe it is the “real” mayo, but it doesn’t taste like what you’d expect on the streets of Ho Chi Minh. The carrots also need to be more sour for that tangy pop. Service is fast and nice though.

Excellent authentic bao that was delicious and affordable! I ordered the bao combo with a panko tofu bao and braised beef with a side salad. Everything was fresh and I would definitely go back!

Very tasty, fair prices for large portions. Kimchi fries are unique. Banh Mi sandwiches are loaded. This place is very busy with delivery and take-out orders, but we persisted and sat inside in the small interior area to eat our lunch after shopping in Chinatown. Had to get a box to take the other halves of our sandwiches back to our hotel. Yummy!

This used to be an easy 5 stars. Still good but has gone a bit downhill. For starters, why'd they get rid of the extra spicy habanero option? That was delicious. Even more disappointing is the hottest option (jalapenos) is legit not spicy. Last 2 times I ordered, I couldn't taste the spice. Fried chicken Bao was decent but used to be bigger and juicier. Pork belly Bao was tough and a bit dry. Squid taco and banh mi still fire tho! While still good, I'm always a bit disappointed... because I remember what it was. Ahhh. Those summers in 2016. Banh mi boys to the rescue. Those were the days...

Nice sandwiches. Lots of meat, quite tasty. However, the bread they use is not “fresh and crunchy”. So the whole experience is not what you’d expect from a freshly made banh mi sandwich. Personally to me, their sandwiches are too sweet (especially chicken - is a meat dessert??) Adding extra sweetness to make food taste better is getting over the top.

This place was my very first bahn mi experience about 5 years ago and it was so delicious that I've been dreaming about it for years. The city where I live in the US doesn't have great options and I've been trying all the bahn mi I can find, hoping to find something to fill the void, but alas, nothing has ever even come close to being as delicious and heavenly as these ones. So once I found out I would be visiting Toronto again I immediately knew this was one place I could not miss out on!

Soo good! I get the chk on steamed bao with medium spice. The garnish is simple but a delicious combination. My friend Tina showed me this spot way back when! ^.^

I will never NOT go to BMB every time I am in Toronto, no matter what. The Five Spice Pork Belly Steamed Bao and the Squid taco are what my dreams are made of. It had been consistently perfect each and every time and I can't wait for my next trip.

Banh Mi Boys is a reliable favourite. Between the elevated banh mis and unique Kimchi fries, they serve some of the best Asian fusion fast food around, and at very reasonable prices as well!

banh mi boys is still as good today as it was 10 years ago. the OG location is no exception. lemongrass pork banh mi was fresh and delicious and prices have remained reasonable. owners need to address the smell in the dining area though. smells like a washroom at the moment. otherwise thank you for keeping the city fed!
