this place was so good i almost didn’t want to leave a review so i could gatekeep it. 10, 10, 10 across the board.

We were at downtown yesterday and looking for a nice unique restaurant to try. After looking at the reviews & the pictures, we decided to give this restaurant a try. The service & atmosphere were good. The waitress was very patience & friendly. We had crispy morning glory with pumpkin soup, original chicken pad Thai & red curry chicken with lychee & pineapple. I really like the pumpkin soup and the original chicken pad Thai was good. But the crispy morning glory & the red curry was a bit disappointing to us. The red curry is a bit watery. 😔 We had a lot better red curry before. My friends had green chicken curry & sasi pad Thai. The waitress stated the sasi pad Thai is more popular, we didn't order it due to my husband has shellfish allergies. But I am glad we didn't, because I personally preferred the original pad Thai. The green curry was not bad, but again I had better.

This place... I love it. I went close to the close time. And the people was very friendly with me. I ate an amazing mix between fruits and meat. With pineapple, mango, beef, pork. It was a very good experience, and for me very spice, but a good spice, with taste. So i was so happy there.

Mengrai Thai was always a favourite since it was introduced by a friend. Sure there is Pai, Suko Thai and all the Chef Nuit’s variants in downtown for Thai. But you need to try Chef Sasi Michai’s creative output and the flavour profile to match. It is a bit of a hidden secret frequented by big Hollywood celebrities when they are in town for work. Also for my Muslim brethren, it is halal!

You MUST eat here while you're in Toronto. If I only had one night, I would come back here in a heartbeat. The owner, Allen, was an absolute pleasure to meet and has so many fantastic stories! Cannot recommend enough!!

As the other comments mentioned the curry with lychee is amazing recommended and also love the pineapple fried rice presentation. The curry’s are not oily but very creamy. Good portions. I really liked the sticky rice for dessert. Owners very personable and sweet - great experience.

We’ve been coming here for years and it’s impressive how well they’ve maintained their standard overall. The only note I have is the food could’ve been hotter when it came to the table. It was all kind of lukewarm. Tasted incredible though, and service was kind and attentive.

We ordered takeout from here on a Sunday evening. The host who answered the phone was very friendly and made good recommendations to us. All the servers and staff seemed very friendly and had a smile on their faces. Service was quick given it was a busy Mother's day weekend. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the neighborhood. We got: Appetizer combo - the dumplings and shrimp roll were delicious Chicken Lemongrass Soup - flavours were amazing on this, spice level was HOT Red curry with lychee and pineapple and a side order of jasmine rice - the curry was tasty and had the right level of spice Drunken flat rice noodles - this was not one of my favourites, the flavour of the bok choy overwhelmed everything else and I had a bitter aftertaste, I would probably try the pad thai next time Complimentary: Mango sticky rice - this was delicious and a nice pallet cleanser after the meal, not too sweet Coconut pandan cake - soft like a pillow with nice subtle flavours I will definitely be returning to this local business.

Another amazing dinner at this lovely restaurant. My husband and I have started dining here before we had children, and now get to share the experience with our children. Food 10/10. Every single dish we ordered was just as perfect as I remembered. Allan, the owner, recommended the raw shrimp to try. I didn't even know raw shrimp was a thing in Thai cuisine, but so glad we tried it. It was sooo good! This is an item that should be ordered in advance if you want to try. Service 100/10. Allan is such a a lovely host who obviously loves what he does. As soon as we sat down he recommended some dishes. He asked for our names, and remembered it throughout the night. He came by regularly to check on us and made us feel comfortable. It was honestly the best service I have ever received at a restaurant.
