Great spot :) not much space and not a great place to come bring your work (heads up!), but friendly staff and good coffee. Typically get the misto here and can't stop ordering it

Friendly service, great coffee and good prices. Baked goods menu is decent, but limited sandwich/lite bite options compared to other Dark Horse locations.

Love it - you have to step down a few stairs off John st to find it. Behind a red door, is the gem that is Dark Horse. Always feels like a respite from the wind and cold. The warmth is not only in the basement hideaway, but in the staff and great treats (love the muffins)!

Wouldn't recommend to come and do work. Spent $10 on overpriced pastries and then had to leave because of the wifi issue. Super annoying.

You'll find better service at Hot Black, second cup, even Tim's... After coming here to the John St location twice to resolve my issue and being turned away by staff, trying to call and finding the posted phone number doesn't work, and getting no response from email, I don't have a choice but to leave a negative review. There is a common protocol at a workplace that when expensing receipts through a company, an HST # must be provided on the bill. Neither barista had any idea what I was talking about, because the manager has not trained them properly. This fact, coupled with an incorrect phone number posted online and no response given by email, indicates a failure of leadership and accountability at this location. If I were the owner, I'd be some kind of embarrased right about now.
