Kaiju

What a pleasant surprise! They are absolutely not an "authentic" Japanese restaurant but their curry is just like one you can eat at a local cafe/diner in Japan. I wish they use better/real Japanese rice and put some more curry on the rice. But I guess this keeps the price reasonable. They are a bit difficult to find - in the food court (#51 spot) at the basement of Shop at Aura on Yonge street.

Great tasting food, Japanese Curry is definitely worth trying. The staff are very friendly, informative and willing to help you decide what to try. The restaurant is easily missed, as it's tucked away in the Aura Food Court underground; enter off Yonge St, by the Bank of Montreal. Will definitely be back for a meal again!

Hidden gem in a quiet location. Great late and Japanese Curry for the lunchtime crowd. They are moving soon, as the owner told me.

This place is incredible! The curry is the best I have ever tasted. And the owners are so nice and give above and beyond service. I can't wait to eat here again! Best Japanese curry in Toronto!!

Really great little Japanese curry place tucked away in the Aura food court. The owner as well as the employees are always very kind and inviting, going as far as bringing the food to where you're sitting. The curry is also very tasty. It's a somewhat sweet, spicy, and comforting curry that makes you feel good. The pork and chicken katsu are also very nicely fried. The coleslaw is okay - not the best - but it's a nice side to the curry. Overall, I look forward to eating here every time I'm in the mood for Japanese curry; the amazing service as well as very fresh and affordable food makes this place a hidden gem.

We really enjoyed eating at Kaiju. The service was exceptional and they even took the time to show us pictures of each dish when they found out it was our first time there. Food tasted amazing - we got the monster combo and the curry sauce was the perfect balance of sweet and savory and the fish, shrimp, and chicken was very fresh and crispy. We highly recommend and can't wait to be back!

I love this place. They seem genuinely happy that you return...Bring your tray to your table; check to see that the food was good, and they thank you for coming. The is the first place that I have tasted Japanese curry and it is SOOOO good. Definitely one of my favourite places to eat.

One of my friends recommended this place and I finally managed to catch it open when I was hungry and nearby. I got the grilled chicken, and don't know how they cooked the chicken but it was juicy and tender. I really wish they had a storefront somewhere less glum, because they deserve a line in front of their store. Way better than any other Japanese curry place downtown. Step aside gyugyuya, You waste of space. After coming back from Japan and trying the curry there, this little hole in the wall is still better than Coco in Shinjuku. Their cutlet is amazing and the slaw pairs so so well.

Chicken katsu curry was super good. Owner is super nice and actually brought the food to us at our food court tables. Definitely worth checking out. You can go hotter than their Kaiju Hot if you love spicy foods.

Consistently a wonderful experience. My #1 comfort food, the curry is sweet and just a little spicy, just enough to warm you up from the inside. It's like the food version of a hug.
