Had a lovely brunch.. Recommend if you don’t want your typical American eggs and bacon. Feels like you’re eating at your Egyptian aunts house. Went around 1pm, got lucky and didn’t wait in line.

Very interesting and pleasant flavors of Egypt. Chef's appetizer plate is a good option for tasting many different appetizers.

TLDR: good for people who likes their food heavy on the salt.
0800 solo diner, ordered the Egyptian falafel plate with a side order of lentil soup.
- Plenty of tables available up until I left around 0845 (so if you come early there’s no need for lineups)
- The decorations are nice, ethnic music playing
- Wait staff are very casual, but friendly enough and easy to flag down as needed (given there weren’t many diners)
- The complimentary herb water does have a nice light herby flavour and scent to it, I found it refreshing
- The Egyptian falafel plate consists of 2 ‘falafels’ (1 was cut in half) on a bed of fries and a tiny serving of salad (tasted like salsa). I came to this place specifically due to an overnight craving for falafels and was rather dismayed to learn that Egyptian falafels are just soft boiled eggs covered in a very thin coating of falafel (but that’s entirely on me). The yolks were perfectly runny and, together with the mayo, served as dipping sauce for the fries. Dip sparingly as there are /a lot/ of fries and not nearly enough sauce for all of them. I found the overall dish to be too dry and salty for my tastes.
- Lentil soup is smooth and creamy. I also found this to be too salty. The 2 slices of pickled onions were nice to lift up the heavy flavours and provide some texture, but they were gone in one slurp. I found myself hoping for some additional acid to brighten the soup (maybe that’s not the point of lentil soup? I wouldn’t know, this is my first time having it). The first few sip were nice and warm but the salt builds up and I struggled with it towards the end (even though this is just the sideorder-sized bowl, I can’t imagine ordering this full sized).
- With tax and tip, the meal came to $44.

This review is 2 years late and I'M SORRY. I visited Toronto for my first ever solo trip in 2022, and naturally my #1 goal was to eat as much as possible. Maha's was a 5-min walk from my airbnb, and I was told it was the type of place where it was common for a long line around the corner. Fortunately, I arrived right on time on a workday, and was seated immediately! I ordered a few dishes but I need you to understand. It's so important to me that you read this review and understand, and feel my passion and emotions: specifically the Egyptian Falafel dish (yells from a mountain top) WAS THE GREATEST THING I'VE EVER HAD THE PRIVILEGE OF EATING.
I also ordered the sunny eggs, a honey cardamom latte, watermelon salad and a mint tea. I was taken care of from the second I walked in; the wait staff was so good to me! The restaurant was very cute with lots of fun little tchotchkes. I'm getting emotional thinking about that food; that year was a really rough year so simply getting amazing food that I've never tried before was a very simple thing that was so important to me! Much love to the owner/family/full staff. And I am actually learning Arabic now so maybe one day I can return and be emotional and dramatic in a second language :)

This is truly a wonderful place. The food is as tasty as it can get. I went two days in a row, and both times, it was extremely delicious. Proper authentic Egyptian cuisine, with fresh and quality ingredients. The atmosphere is very familial and cozy as well!

I've never had Egyptian food before and I'm happy this was the first place I could try it. I tried the shakshuka and it was SO good. Highly recommend and to get there early as it gets packed quickly.

Lucky to get seated right away at around 12pm on a Thursday morning! A long line started forming outside right after so definitely come earlier.
FOOD
Traditional Cairo - 5/5: So well balanced, an absolute must try! Foole (beans) was not too salty, feta sauce was delicious, balady bread perfectly charred and fresh, the falafel was fantastic and salad very tangy and fresh.
Egyptian falafel - 4.8/5: Falafel coating a perfectly soft boiled egg, drizzled in mayo. Unique and delicious.
Watermelon salad - 5/5: Perfect accompaniment, so refreshing and tasty with mint, olives, and feta! Highly recommend.
Lentil soup - 4.8/5: Hearty and warming, paired so well with the balady bread!
Mindblowing chicken sandwich - 4/5: Tip is to ask for sauces on the side! (You can also use it to dip extra balady :) I found this very similar to chicken shawarma but it was a bit too salty! Portion was large but I wouldn’t choose this over the others.
DRINKS
Beet it up - 5/5: an amazing cold drink with beets, carrot, ginger (requested no dairy no additional sugar—perfect natural sweetness and balance of flavours!!)
Limoncello - 4.5/5: Added condensed milk, really good but a bit warm.
Will definitely return next time to try the scrambled eggs! Prices on the higher end but very worth it for authentic and delicious food.

I am so glad I experienced this Egyptian cuisine. We went there on a Sunday around 1145 parked a minute walk away from the restaurant and we got a table right away in the patio. Our server was amazing. He helped us figure out the menu. Had hazelnut latte and cardamom latte. They are amazing. Also had the best grilled cheese of my life. It comes with their popular lentil soup.
Very flavourful soup . I lovee the shakshuka.
Patio is wheelchair accessible. I'm not sure about the inside since there is a bit of steps to go up just a couple of steps. interior looks great though although we didn't got to see dine inside. we definitely will come back to try the rest of the menu.

On a sunny day, I walked for an hour from downtown Toronto to the charming neighbourhood of Riverside, with houses. Naturally I arrived famished. A friend of mine was waiting on the patio of this Egyptian brunch place, his smile radiant. We sat and quickly decided, because the server helped us in choosing two of his most favourite dishes. We ordered those and also the lentil soup. For drinks, the espresso tonic was perfect for such a day.
The award winning lentil soup was great. The lentils wasn’t mushy, instead the texture had a moreish consistency, which was modulated by the refreshing red onion pickles and parsley.
The Egyptian Falafel was a delight. It combined the crunch of a falafel ample amount of tasty fried potatoes, and the concept of a scotch egg. Dipping the spuds inside the yolk is a genius tactile experience that wasn’t only fun but delicious.
The mouth watering chicken sandwich was overflowing with juicy and rich chicken meat. Well-seasoned with fresh parsley and tomatoes, each bite was nourishing.
Thank you for a Luxor-ious brunch!

We have been here once before. I decided to give it another chance. The lentil soup was good but not worth $20, The "mind-blowing" chicken sandwich was tasteless and not impressive at all. The scrambled eggs were salty and had no other flavour. The Honey-latte was too sweet. I now remember why I only went once.
